Where to start ?

Well this is my first attempt at a blog and only really trying it out to get my head around what is going on with my head .......
I found a small lump on my jaw line near the base of my right ear.
Honestly it was about the size of a pea.
I thought it was a small cyst or nay be a swolllen gland or maybe something to do with my wisdom teeth which play up every few months.

Then the pea started to grow ....maybe to the size of 2 peas.

Then the size of 3 peas.

All this happened within a few weeks.

Then one day I took the step of getting a doctors appointment.

Well then the rollercoaster really began.

Saw the doctor on Friday morning. Told I needed to see a ENT Consultant.

Monday afternoon saw the consultant and had a camera up my nose .....quiet unpleasant and I will admit to not being at all brave.
The poor nurse whose hand I was holding !

Then the consultant sends me for a scan

The scan results then required a biopsy- this was actually far nicer than the camera up the nose test.

The results took 2 weeks - wow wasn't that a horrible 2 weeks.
Well actually No. we were away on holiday in Canada. It coulfnt have been better timing really as i had a lovely 2 weeks away with my husband and surprisingly managed to switch off quite a bit to the pea quickly resembling a large marble .

So the results are in ..........
Felt so sick going in see the consultant but it was good news.

Well good news in that it is beningn ( non cancerous) - don't mind confessing that I googled that before the appointment. Easy way to remember malignant has mal at the start and mal is french for bad .

The not so good news - it needs to come out.
I have seen some photos of ones the size of melons etc and as I am so self conscious of this marble quickly becoming a golf ball already , I know the sooner the better.
Just a little scared of the op and the scar and the possible complications but I guess at least I only have those to contend with and not those plus radiotherapy etc as it's Beningn.

So surgery is planned for May 11th.
